[How To] Avoid a Hangover

I don't know about you, but like most 23 year olds, I will be spending St. Patrick's Day at the nearest bar crawl street, drinking green beer and making lots of noise and such. As this Blarney holiday falls on a Sunday this year, I thought I would keep your luck running through your Monday work-day morning. Here are a few of the less obvious tips for you 21+'ers to avoid that green feeling after the revelry is over:
1. Eat first. Eat an entire meal and drink a glass of milk. The milk will line your stomach and act as a purifier in your stomach. Snack while you drink. Order appetizers to munch

2. Stick with one type of alcohol. Darker liquors, wine or champagne, and sugary mixed drinks will give you the worst hangover, while light liquors like gin or vodka won't be so bad. Avoid mixing caffeine with your liquor.

3. Drink water. Drink a glass of water between each alcoholic drink and have another huge glass before you go to bed. Keep another glass of water by the bed for when you wake up. The nice thing about water? You can be at the bar with a drink in your hand for free! If you're worried about being judged, order a virgin drink or a soda with a garnish.
4. Move. Walk around, dance, stay standing, socialize. When you move, your metabolism starts working to break down all that booze and the more you're talking, the slower you're sipping.

5. Don't smoke. It constricts the air flow to your lungs and decreases the amount of oxygen able to get to your bloom stream.

Know your limits and don't push the boundaries. One rule of thumb is one drink per hour. The only way to definitely, 100%, for sure, absolutely avoid a hangover is not to drink. Volunteer to be the designated driver instead!
If you do end up with a morning hangover:

-Take Aspirin and an antacid (NOT Tylenol or Acetaminophen, as these will damage your liver when mixed with alcohol). Take Vitamin B. 
-Eat a healthy breakfast, even if you feel like you're going to puke. Fried foods and bread help your stomach feel better, but fatty foods can also overwork your system as it is already breaking down the alcohol.
-Keep drinking water, or gatorade, or coffee.

As always, keep a close eye on your drinks, don't go home with strangers, and NEVER drink and drive!
